- The name Cachaça comes from the spanish "cachaza" that is an aguardente made with the grape skins.

- Sugar and pinga are considered the first industrialized products in Brazil.

- The German naturalist Jorge Marcgrave is responsible for the first written registers about CACHAÇA, when he describes the manufacture of sugar in Pernambuco, under the empire of the Count Nassau: The first boiler is called by the Portuguese "boiler to separate descumos", in which the broth is submited to the action of a slow fire, always stirred and purged by a big copper spoon called "escumadeira"(skimmer), until it's well skimmed and purified. The scum is received by a canoe, put below, called "tank", which serves of drink for the donkeys ".
